Twenty-one Eureka Springs artists will open their studios to the public September 25th and 26th from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily, and September 27th, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.. The annual Studio Tour will feature sixteen locations and will offer "behind the scenes" experiences with artists in their working environments.
The tour is a free, self-guided, annual art event. Artworks will be exhibited and for sale that will include original paintings, prints, pottery, fiber art, musical instruments, jewelry, and found object art. The tour will feature demonstrations and Q & A, interaction with the artists in their working environments, and some "hands on experiences."
The Eureka Springs School of the Arts, Hwy 62 West (approximately 5 miles West of town), will serve as this year's tour headquarters and will host scheduled presentations by visiting artists/instructors, Doug Stowe and Leon Niehues. Both Stowe and Niehues have been honored as an "Arkansas Living Treasure," by the Arkansas Arts Council.
New this year to the Studio Tour schedule will be a 'Thriving Artist' party to be held at the Harris Art Garden and Gallery on HWY 23 North, Saturday evening, September 26th. Guests will meet local fine artists, performing artists, and musicians, and will be able to explore the gallery and gardens to view the creative developement of the property by owners, JD and Cathy Harris.

Sadly, a portion of the day's events have been cancelled, Leon Niehues has a scheduling conflict and will not be able to present at ESSA. However, we are going to try to secure some of his art for our gallery space. Also the Thriving Artist Party during the tour has not taken off. Still, the studio tour is well-worth your time! Make plans to attend!
